15" MARLIN LURE

The Dracula is our version of a head-shape that has been pulled behind boats for decades. A cross between a diver and a splasher, it responds well to towing height and is a very versatile lure that can be run just about anywhere. In its 15" length, it is a big lure for 50lb class gear, but perfect for 80 and 130lb. It also makes a reasonable teaser if you're okay with hard heads.

The Dracula makes a loud noisy bubble-trail, and if close to the boat, plenty of spray. On a corner bait, it will excel in rough weather off the rod-tip, and becomes a go-to bait off a tag-line. On the short rigger it will dive and weave, and on the long rigger it becomes easy to eat. In Madeira this head-shape was a staple noisy bait for the long corner, or a fish-catcher extraordinaire on the long. It swims best between 7 and 9.5 knots, and it's capable of dealing with a range of weather and wave heights. Set at the bottom of a large wave it will run all day and attract the largest of big girls and I'd be happy pulling four of these anywhere in the world. 

This lure swims best with a single hook rig. It's a good bait to follow with video as most bites are of a surface nature, head and shoulders out the water. 

Be warned - this lure will catch giants.
